UWE BRISTOL

Here is a 90 second film about my influences and why I want to study at UWE.

MY PITCH

Banger Racing - documentary
When you don’t have much, you are expected to be frugal, not have expensive hobbies. But what if you put all the money you make into one basket, racing.
That was the decision made by a group who instead of living in houses live in caravans, and drive cars worth more than anything that they own. They work not for financial stability but for speed. These people are banger racers, and when my friend told me about “a pocket of the US Midwest in Sussex” I was captivated and knew that these peoples' stories needed to be told.

My Poltergeist - drama
I study Psychology and I find the subject of how we cope with trauma fascinating. ‘My Poltergeist’ is the product of this fascination. The story follows Sarah who experiences strange occurrences that progress from plates smashing to physical harm. She concludes that this is a poltergeist and names it John. The film climaxes with her having a ‘’fight’’ with John, objects are being thrown at her as she yells ‘I'm not afraid anymore!’ We then learn through flashbacks that the poltergeist is her, and John was an abusive partner and is the source of the trauma. ‘Memento’ is an inspiration.
